another quiz

  1. First name? Not something I especially like.
  2. Were you named after anyone? No.
  3. Do you wish on stars? When I was a child, but not anymore. I buy lotto tickets though, which is much the same ;)
  4. When did you last cry? I think it was when my grandmother died.
  5. Do you like your handwriting? It's atrocious, but I'm not especially emotional about it ;)
  6. What is your favourite lunch meat? Don't really have one... turkey maybe. I loved lunchmeat (probably devon or something) with tomato sauce when I was a kid. My grandma made it for all the grandchildren. Then I got old enough to have a rough idea what was in it and the appeal faded somewhat :)
  7. What is your most embarrassing CD? Depends what you think is embarrassing. I have a Harry Connick Junior CD which I occasionally pull out and crank up, I used to play it a lot while I was cooking at home during high school. It's a fun album, I'm not overly embarrassed about it :)
  8. If you were another person, would YOU be friends with you? Depends what kind of person I'd be. Think about it :) To a great extent I think people are just compatible or not, as in it's not something to get overly emotional about since you simply will not like some people and they simply won't like you. Realistically that can still hurt, but it shouldn't be surprising. Would I like myself if I was basically the same as myself? There's a good chance I'd be bored.
  9. Do you have a journal? Not exactly. I have a homepage, a linkblog and a more professional style blog. But I don't write down my day-to-day stuff, diary style.
  10. Do you use sarcasm a lot? Ask my coworkers ;) Yes. Yes, a lot.
  11. What are your nicknames? Hmm. Don't especially have nicknames, per se; although heretic may count depending on what you think of pseudonyms/handles. I'm occasionally known as t'grand master, cheshrkat, spaceman, deranged pygmie, thumper. They are pretty much all in-jokes of some kind.
  12. Would you bungee jump? Probably not, unless I was in a very pronounced "fuck it" mood. "Fuck it" being the two words used by guys to justify almost any insane behaviour :) Ultimately I don't think I'd enjoy it enough so I think I'd just skip it. I would probably do one of those huge cable-swing things though, maybe skydive. But ultimately I don't trust other people (especially strangers) to get things right, so I tend to avoid putting my life in their hands unneccesarily.
  13. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off? Well, they wouldn't come off any other way...
  14. Do you think that you are strong, emotionally or physically? Not really. Definitely not physically, emotionally... occasionally.
  15. What is your favourite ice cream flavour? Rum & raisin, coffee.
  16. Shoe Size? 8.5 Australian, roughly. Annoying narrow feet.
  17. Red or pink? Red.
  18. What is your least favourite thing about yourself? Indecision, hesitation, lack of spontaneity.
  19. Who do you miss most? The list is long and geographically varied.
  20. Do you want everyone you send this to, to send it back? Honestly no - I don't expect responses to this sort of thing, although it's fun when people do respond :)
  21. What colour pants and shoes are you wearing? Black jeans, no shoes.
  22. What are you listening to right now? VNV Nation (Futureperfect) when I started, Klinik (Sonic Surgery) now.
  23. Last thing you ate? Some Club Chocolate (dark chocolate)
  24. If you were a crayon... What kind of question is that, I mean really ;)
  25. What is the weather like right now? Cool, clear. Last few weeks before Brisbane turns back into an oven.
  26. Last person you talked to on the phone? My fiance last night while on my way home from the airport.
  27. The first thing you notice about the opposite sex? I'm not consciously aware of anything in particular. Probably overall style and bearing.
  28. Do you like the person who sent this to you? Yes, why else would I be reading their journal? :)
  29. Favourite Drink? Hmm. Coffee. Good quality scotch/irish /bourbon. Beer.
  30. Favourite Sport? To play: err... none really. Paintball count? Used to play soccer but my knees crapped out during high school, which kinda killed sport. I did play (and love) golf for a long time, but glandular fever pretty much knocked that on the head in high school and I never picked it up again. To watch: rugby league, cricket, formula one, rallies, drag racing and circuit stuff with top-end sports cars (ie. as opposed to bland touring cars).
  31. Hair Colour? Boring brown. Need to do something about that, once I get my hair cut.
  32. Eye Colour? Brown.
  33. Do you wear contacts? No, glasses.
  34. Favourite Food? Italian. First thought was the pizza/gelati place I went to at The Rocks last Tuesday night. They did limoncello gelati inside a frozen, hollowed lemon... YUM.
  35. Last Movie You Watched? Can't remember. Something that started very late last saturday night and I should have been packing or sleeping rather than watching it. *thinks* Romeo Must Die, that was it.
  36. Favourite Day Of The Year? Not sure I have one, generically speaking. Any public holiday is a good day ;) New Year's Day can be really great, with a sense of new beginnings. It's a good day to spend chilled out with friends.
  37. Scary Movies Or Happy Endings? Neither, really. Scary movies really aren't my thing and happy endings are a bit too obvious (although to be honest I probably enjoy them). The best movies often have endings that are a bit happy and a bit sad, generally without all things resolved. Like Good Will Hunting - the characters are moving on, you don't know if Matt Damon is going to get the girl back; you don't know what Robin Williams will find on his travels; we see Ben Affleck smile despite losing his best friend. You don't know if anyone is going to see anyone again.
  38. Summer Or Winter? Winter. Brisbane is too damn hot in summer. At least in winter you can rug up.
  39. Hugs OR Kisses? If they're making you choose... get out ;)
  40. What Is Your Favourite Dessert? Apple crumble. Gelati or sorbet. Chocolate mousse. Rum figs.
  41. Living Arrangements? Me and my fiance.
  42. What Books Are You Reading? The Algebraist by Iain M Banks. I have the third of Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle lined up after that. Then I'll go get the latest Richard K Morgan.
  43. What's On Your Mouse Pad? A sort of ripple motif. It's a 3M precise mousing surface mouse pad, so it wasn't really chosen for aesthetics.
  44. What Did You Watch Last night on TV? Broncos match and The Glass House.
  45. Favourite Smells? Hmm. The country after rain, fresh basil or coriander, baking bread, coffee, good scotch/irish/bourbon (it's nice to sniff as well as sip), stew with dumplings (it cooks for so long... you go nuts waiting :)).
  46. Favourite Sounds? All the noises of the barista making your morning coffee. Much as it marks me as a rev head, engines sound pretty cool; as do top-fuel dragsters exploding down the track. The sound of the country - ie. very quiet with occasional distant sounds.
  47. Rolling Stones or Beatles? Probably Beatles at a pinch, although both have merits.
  48. What's the furthest you've been from home? Melbourne. Yeah yeah, I know. I need to get out more.
  49. Do you have a secret crush? Why do quizzes always include this question? Anyway, no. The engagement ring kinda precludes the "secret" part.
  50. Do you have any tattoos? No, although I want to I can't decide on a design. Plus I am a little bit uncertain about the pain factor ;)
